How to Get Rid of Cellulite

Is cellulite giving you nightmares? You stand in front of the mirror, and all you see are bumps and dimples on your thighs, abdomen, and buttocks? Nobody wants to see this reflection of themselves. If you are one of those and are on the lookout for methods to get rid of the cellulite from your body, you have landed on the right web page today. Let us show you how you can say goodbye to cellulite!

Cellulite is a condition in which the skin becomes dimpled due to the accumulation of fat cells, proteins, and toxins that have not been eliminated from the body. It is a problem that can affect anyone, including men, women, and children. It can even affect people who have relatively no fat in their bodies.

However, women are affected the most by this. An estimated 85% of women suffer from cellulite. Let us examine the causes of cellulite formation, and then we shall get into the details of different home remedies you can use to get rid of it.

Cellulite gives a unique appearance to the skin, like that of the dimpled surface of an orange peel. Poor diet, hormonal changes, age, and genetic predisposition – all of these trigger cellulite formation. There is a common denominator for all these factors – the accumulation of toxins in the body. A staggering 90% of post-adolescent women suffer from this orange peel skin or cottage cheese look. Other contributing factors include smoking, obesity, pregnancy, lack of exercise, not drinking enough water and stress. But, these are not absolutes.

While weight gain can make cellulite more noticeable, the good news is that cellulite is in no way related to obesity. It affects skinny and overweight people alike. The key to cellulite reduction is to flush out the accumulated toxins from the body and prevent its future accumulation. Any step towards an ideal lifestyle can help to avoid and reduce cellulite.

One can get rid of the cellulite naturally by doing exercises, eating non processed food, and by following some home remedies. These tips will not only reduce and prevent cellulite but will also pave the way for a healthy and fit life.

Try these for a noticeable improvement in the dreaded ‘orange peel’ look.

You Will Need:

2-3 tablespoons coffee grounds
Coconut Oil.

What You Have To Do:

Add enough coconut oil to the coffee grounds to get a thick paste-like consistency.
Scrub this on the affected skin in circular motions for about 10 minutes.
Rinse it off with lukewarm water.
How Often You Should Do This
Do this twice or thrice a week.

Why This Works:
Packed with a good dose of antioxidants, coffee is simply lush and invigorating for our senses. It can do wonders for our skin too. When applied topically to the skin and rubbed gently, it exfoliates the skin, stimulates the blood flow, and works as a tightening agent. Caffeine is the key ingredient responsible for these properties (3). This remedy works well for cellulite on the thighs, calves, buttocks, and also for cellulite on the abdomen.

Another great way to get rid of cellulite is:

Body Brushing for Cellulite

You Will Need:
A soft body brush

What You Have To Do:

Brush the affected area in an upward direction towards the heart.
Keep brushing gently for 5 minutes.
You can use the body brush to reduce cellulite on the entire body as well. Start by brushing your feet in circular motions and, slowly, move up the body. The movements should be light, yet brisk; long, but crisp. Once you reach your abdomen, move the brush in a circular motion clockwise, while the arms move towards the heart.

How Often You Should Do This:
You can dry brush for cellulite treatment 2-3 times in a week.

Why This Works
Dry brushing helps to break up the toxic material that cellulite is composed of. It also tightens the epidermis. Brushing towards the heart is to ensure that your blood and lymphatic flows get a boost (4). This is one of the most popular and simplest ways to reduce cellulite.

Choose a body brush that is soft and is made of natural bristles. Do not brush on the damaged or inflamed skin.

Cellulite Massage

There are various types of anti-cellulite massages. All the slimming parlors have it under different names. The basic procedure involves enhancing the lymphatic drainage and stimulating the blood flow. A good anti-cellulite massage done with sesame oil, infused with essential herbs and salts, should always be accompanied by a steam session. This will help in the better removal of toxins and improve the flow of blood (5). Ayurvedic (Udvartanam) and deep tissue massages are usually recommended. A good masseur will be able to give you visible results in two to three sessions of an hour each.

The following tips can help you to prevent cellulite.

Keep Yourself Hydrated

Keeping your body hydrated will help the skin cells fresh and renewed, plummeting the cellulite. Water also aids in preventing cellulite accumulation. Drink at least eight to 10 glasses of water [1.6 l to 2 l]. Opt for clean, purified water. Include organic fresh veggies and fruits to your diet for added hydration. Drink plenty of water before and after a workout to reduce the toxin buildup. Drink a glass of water before having your morning tea or coffee and carry a bottle of water with yourself wherever you go.

Hydration is crucial for maintaining the overall health. Drink enough water to acquire a smooth texture and healthy glow in your skin.

Indulge In An Anti-Cellulite Diet

Diet is not as horrible as it sounds and there are numerous ones out there – Dukan, Paleo, 321 Baby Bulge Gone, GM diet, LCHF [Low Carb High Fat], and what not. Do not fall prey to any extreme diets. They will do no good but are sure to leave you harmed. The ideal way to enjoy a diet is to go in a balanced way. Pack your plate with loads of fruits and vegetables of various colors. Plus, add a lot of ginger, black pepper, long pepper, onions, fennel seeds, lemon, cloves, and cinnamon in your diet. These improve your metabolism, thus ensuring a better blood flow.

Consume More Alkaline Forming Foods

Eliminate the toxins from its source – this is the key principle that one needs to follow to get rid of the cellulite. And, this can be done by increasing the amount of foods that trigger the formation of alkaline ash in your body. The ideal sources of such foods are raw veggies and fruits. The alkaline nature of these food items attracts the acidic toxins, aiding in flushing out the latter from your body.
Nevertheless, take baby steps, when it comes to inclusion of fruits and veggies. A sudden increase in alkaline nature may, in fact, cause adverse effects. The toxins, instead of getting flushed out, will be retained within the body via recirculation and resettling. The higher the quantity of raw food intake, higher your weight loss will be. And, as you lose weight, your cellulite levels will look diminished.

Eat Healthy

Eat low-fat delights, lean protein, Indian cottage cheese, skimmed milk, and honey. You can opt for fresh fruits and veggies when you crave for a snack. The inclusion of junk in your diet will only increase the toxin levels, which in turn will aggravate cellulite formation. Avoid cellulite by following a healthy diet.

Chuck Out Your Tight Fitting Clothes

There are countless slimwear and shapewear products available in the market with many of them claiming to have a positive impact on cellulite in a certain period. However, the facts suggest something else! While these body-shapers of the right size might help you, wearing overly fit dresses could have negative impacts on your body. Wear loose clothing to promote the blood flow in the body and make sure to pick the right size for you.

Also, if you are using any shapewear, make sure you do not wear it beyond six hours a day, as there will be some undesirable side-effects shortly.

Move Around

Increased physical activity will surely make a difference in the appearance of cellulite. Every extra step you take will help you deal with cellulite. Walking for 30 minutes daily will help to lose weight while mellowing down your cellulite. If you are working in front of the computer, then make sure you walk for 10 minutes for each 60 minutes of sitting. The better the flow of blood is, the more effective your cellulite reduction will be. So, just walk for half an hour more every day and see the difference.

Skip the elevator, use the stairs, and walk to the nearest store, instead of driving. You can also go swimming once or twice a week. Swimming not only burns the fat but also massages the thighs and hips, reducing cellulite. Aerobic activities like running, jogging, and bicycling can also help to reduce cellulite. Include these cellulite-reducing exercises in your daily routine for a firm and fit body.

Cut Out On The Salt

Swap your refined salt for Celtic salt or Himalayan crystal salt. Refined salt is extremely acidic and leaches minerals from the body. It is also highly dehydrating, which can cause the accumulation of toxins in the body. Moreover, the excessive sodium present in it causes fluid retention that makes the cellulite more conspicuous. Crystal and Celtic salt are alkaline and come packed with beneficial minerals, giving you a healthy body.

Detox Regularly

Colon cleansing is an essential part of the detoxification program. Get a colon cleansing done from a professional colonic to reduce the cellulite. Detoxification eliminates the toxins from the body, reducing cellulite. It not only clears the existing bowel problems but also prevents other intestinal diseases.

Chuck Out Sugar

Sugar is one of the leading causes of cellulite. It causes fat accumulation, premature skin aging, and inflammation, triggering the formation of cellulite. Avoid consuming sugary foods like glucose, high fructose, corn syrup, maltose, and/or brown sugar. Ditch all sweeteners such as sucralose or stevia. Artificial sweeteners perpetuate the cravings for sugary and comforting foods. Sugar also increases insulin levels and blocks fat release from muscles during exercise. Thus, avoid consuming sugary foods to minimize the appearance of cellulite.

Replace the sugar-laden foods with berries like blueberries, strawberries, or blackberries. Berries contain a high amount of flavonoids that support the connective tissues in the skin and keep it firm and smooth.

Include Essential Fatty Acids In Your Diet

A diet rich in essential fatty acids prevents the fat cells from slackening, thereby reducing the dimpling effect. Essential fatty acids strengthen the connective tissue around the fat cells, helping to reduce cellulite. Fish like salmon, mackerel, sardines, and trout contain high levels of unsaturated omega-3 fatty acids, which can help to reduce body fat. You can also include olive oil, flaxseed oil, and walnut oil to increase the levels of fatty acids in the body.

Sleep Enough And De-Stress Yourself

Stress may also increase the risk of cellulite. It causes a spike in cortisol, a hormone associated with the development of cellulite. It also slows the production of growth hormones that create healthy skin. Thus, it is critical to be relaxed in your life and keep the stress away. Practice meditation and deep breathing exercises, and make sure you get enough sleep every night. Sleep properly for 6-8 hours a day. A healthy sleeping routine is the solution for a multitude of health and body related issues.

Quit Smoking

Smoking is highly toxic and is one of the underlying causes of cellulite. It can have detrimental effects on the elasticity of the skin, thereby worsening cellulite. Smoking can also cause premature wrinkles and sagging. Thus, quit smoking to get a smooth and supple skin.

These tips for cellulite prevention (and reduction) can be your path to achieving a beautiful, healthier skin. Here are some more questions on cellulite answered for you.

Here’s What Jeffree Star and Manny MUA Gutierrez Do When They Really Want Their Highlighter to Pop

There’s nothing we love more than a good beauty collaboration, so, naturally, we were all about the Jeffree Star Cosmetics x Manny MUA collaboration from Star and Manny Gutierrez, two YouTube beauty gurus who don’t need much of an introduction around here.

The collection features a Skin Frost highlighter and two Velour Liquid Lipsticks. At their launch party in West Hollywood, we learned details about how they came up with the names.

“When we first created the highlighter in the lab, Manny was like, I want it to be extra blinding,” said Star, who was obviously game. “I told him, send me five names that you’re thinking, and he said he already had it: Eclipse.” The reason? Their brand logos, which if you follow the two closely, you know have had their fair share of headlines this week. “An eclipse happens when the sun and the moon collide, so it worked nicely,” Gutierrez said.

They both also shared the same go-to highlighter tip: After applying a base of highlighter, spritz your brush with a makeup setting spray. Then go back in to pick up more highlighter and layer it over your initial application. “When you add the extra water [to the brush], it breaks up the mica a little bit, and boom. It makes it pop!” Gutierrez told us. A good way to think of it: It intensifies the color in the same way that dampening your eyeshadow makes the color appear richer and more saturated.

Clearly, the trick works. Just take a look at Gutierrez’s Instagram photo on his page @mannymua733. Their highlighter is probably visible from the International Space Station.

Try the trick at home with your go-to powder highlighter — or, if you’re a super-fan, get your hands on the Jeffree Star Cosmetics x Manny MUA Skin Frost Highlighter. Click the images below to get yours!

Fake Tan Your Way to Leaner Sexier Looking Legs.

Looking for a quick fix to make your legs look leaner and sexier? Are you more of an instant results kind of girl? Yeah, us too (sometimes!). We don’t tend to think about our legs until it’s too late and then we need a quick fix. We have the solution for turning pasty legs into glam, glowing, red carpet-ready stems. If the skin is glowing and tanned it will instantly slim your legs and naturally create a more toned appearance by deepening and pronouncing the natural muscle contours. The three things every girl needs to perk up her legs are a spray-on leg tint, a wash-off bronzer, and illuminating lotion.

A layer of self-tanner on the legs should be your staple, can’t-live-without product. It can hide a multitude of problems, from concealing stretch marks and scars, making the appearance of cellulite look better, and of course, instantly slimming you down by attracting the eye to darker, more pronounced contours. The VIP Mom recommends exfoliating to scrub away the dead skin cells, then moisturizing your knees, your whole foot, and the back of your heel with an oil-free lotion. Use an applicator mitt to apply the self-tanner — it will make life easier and you will get an even finish. Apply it liberally so the product will glide over skin without the use of pressure. Lack of product is the biggest mistake people make.

If you’d rather not commit to a color, try a temporary tan from a tinted bronzer or leg spray. These products work to give you a faux glow that washes off once the night is through. If you really want to get advanced, try contouring and shaping the legs using a blend of highlighter lotion, self-tanner, and temporary tint. If you are happy with the depth of tan, apply moisturizer all over to hydrate and lock in color, then mix a little bit of instant glow with moisturizer and apply directly to the contours of the leg — underneath the bottom of the cheeks, to the center of the thighs, down the shins, and around the calf muscle to sculpt alternatively. Dot a small amount of [shimmer lotion] down the shin, around the contour of the calf muscle, and at the center of the thigh. Your legs will immediately look smooth, hydrated, longer, leaner, and more toned in an instant. By directing the eye and light to the center of the legs, this instantly gives a slimmer illusion.

If you need help choosing the best products to help you achieve this, click on the images below to find out more and to get your hands on these magic potions for your legs.

Top 5 Cellulite Creams that can help smooth the ‘orange peel’ look.

The truth about cellulite is… almost every woman has it, including Blake Lively, Jessica Alba, Sandra Bullock, Cindy Crawford, Demi Lovato…the list goes on.

Unlike these celebs, who can afford costly cellulite-removing procedures (we saw Kim Kardashian get a treatment called Velashape on a past episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians), how does the average woman deal with dimpled skin?

Well, you could embrace it—more than 90 percent of women have it, after all! Should you want temporary taut skin, there are topical treatments, which have become particularly trendy in recent years. The question is: Do they actually work?

Although some experts have called this buzzy skin-care trend all hype, if you have the right expectation, it may just work for you. Translation: Know that any sculpting or anti-cellulite product that you apply on top of your skin is temporary.

“It’s a nice little fix for a few hours to a day,” said the dermatologist, who independently surveys beauty products. “If you have a pool party or a reunion to go to and if you’re wearing shorts, with an anti-cellulite cream and self-tanner or makeup, [your body will] look leaner.”

With so many products on the market now, the experts suggest to “read the label really carefully.” You’ll want to look for firming ingredients that actually work, what the formula actually does: Does it claim to reduce the appearance for cellulite or fine lines or crepe-y looking skin? If your skin looks like crepe paper, it’s not actually cellulite, which looks more like dimples with ridges and valleys, according to the skin pro.

She likened cellulite products with getting facials, where regular appointments and product layering are needed to create any long-lasting results.

Jennifer Aniston swears by Collagen supplement for her GLOWING skin. But which one is best?

Collagen Shots. Collagen Powders. Collagen Drinks. Collagen Pills. Can adding another ingestible to your diet slow down the ageing process in your skin and body?

According to a nutricosmetics industry set to be worth approximately $5 billion by 2020, the answer seems to be yes. Collagen supplements are a hot topic right now, with millions of women investing in a vitamin, mineral or supplement to stop the appearance of wrinkles.

Even celebrities are in on it. Speaking to, Jennifer Aniston revealed that she was seeing the benefits of taking collagen supplements.

She said: “There’s a collagen peptide that I’ve been loving. I’ve been seeing a difference.

“My nails are stronger and there’s a healthier… how do you explain it? A glow. It’s sort of that working from the inside-out thing.”

jenaniston.pngBut with so much choice, comes the hard task of sifting the good from the pointless.

Jen An swears by Vital Proteins but these days you can buy collagen in almost any form you prefer. Sales are driven by recent research that suggests that the main difference between plumped and sagging skin is the health and density of the collagen matrix (the structure that supports the skin).

Now, collagen supplements are Googled as often as the best moisturiser– but hardly surprising as these supplements help skin bounce back and increase hydration levels.

But what are all the benefits, how do they work and which ones are worth investing in? The VIP Mom investigates….

Collagen supplements: are they worth it?

“Your skin is made up of 75% collagen, but after the age of 25, collagen synthesis reduces at a rate of 1.5% a year and after the age of 45, your collagen levels may have fallen by as much as 30%”, says Kathryn Danzey, Founder of Rejuvenated.

The visible effects of this breakdown doesn’t just appear as wrinkles, fine lines and dry skin; it can also materialise as physical ailments, as collagen is basically the glue that holds your ligaments, joints and bones together.

Danzey says adding collagen to your diet helps your bones, joints, nails and hair as well as skin

“Hydroxyproline is the amino acid which is most effective at creating collagen and hydrolysed marine collagen contains a higher concentration of this amino acid over and above other types of collagen”, Danzey continues.

This notion was supported by a study in the Natural Medicine Journal, which showed that women who took the dietary supplement Collagen BoosterTM saw significant improvement in lessening the appearance of their pores and hyperpigmentation spots after six months.

“Type 1 collagen is the most abundant form of collagen in our skin and levels deplete rapidly as a result of both intrinsic and extrinsic ageing processes,” explains Dr Anita Sturnham, GP and dermatologist. “It makes sense that providing the body with a nutritional source of bioavailable type 1 collagen will allow replenishment of collagen stores in the dermis and help to boost the skin’s natural scaffolding.”

Collagen supplements side effects: do they really work?

When it comes to collagen supplements there are as many pros as cons. Collagen laced serums are thought to only pep-up the top layers of your skin, but pinpointing where ingestible supplements reach via the bloodstream is near impossible.

Some scientists claim that after the molecule is broken down, the fragments are absorbed into the bloodstream and distributed through the entire body. Essentially, your body is tricked into thinking that these fragments indicate collagen breakdown and repair is urgently needed, which then stimulates fibroblasts to produce more:

  • collagen
  • elastin and
  • hyaluronic acid

Aka, the compounds that give our skin its youthful qualities.

Further research is needed, but in the meantime, if you’ve got your heart set on boosting your collagen levels with a supplement, ensure you invest in the best.  We have sourced THE BEST including Jen’s favourite, below.
